A cooling jacket enables a portion of the pumped liquid or an external liquid to be circulated around the motor stator housing. This absorbs excess heat by forced convection, ensuring efficient cooling of the pump.
Especially dry-installed pumps need special motor cooling. Submerged pumps can also need extra motor cooling if the pumped liquid is warm or if the pumps are required to pump continuously. The same applies if the liquid is pumped to below the level of the motor.
The cooling jacket can also be designed as an aluminum casing around the stator house. In this way the heat will be transferred to the pumped liquid via the aluminum casing.
